They arrived to find smoke and flames coming from the rear of the house, and two women trapped on the second- story.
Firefighters rescued them and found a third victim in a first floor bedroom.
She reportedly had suffered heavy smoke inhalation and was taken to Lynchburg General Hospital.
Authorities believe a woodstove in the rear of the home may have sparked the blaze.

The Cave Spring volleyeball team remains unbeaten after a win last night in its quarterfinal game in the Northwest regionals.
The Lady Knights beat GW Danville 3 games to none.
They will play in the semi-finals tomorrow.
