For the fourth day in a row, Iraq has turned back U-N weapons inspection
teams because they have American members.
The teams were preparing to check out sites where Iraqis may have tampered
with surveillance cameras and hidden sensitive equipment.
Iraq is now admitting to hiding key equipment, saying it's preparing for an
act of aggression by the U-S.
American forces are now on standby to intervene if necessary in the Iraqi
The addition of the U-S-S Nimitz aircraft carrier has boosted the United
States' military strength in the Gulf to more than 200 jet fighters and seven
vessels equipped with cruise missiles.
A jury decided yesterday that Earl Bramblett should die for killing the
Hodges family three years ago.

A Pittsylvania County firefighter died yesterday as he attempted to deliver
water to a fire.
Thirty- year- old William S-Bradner the third lost control of a water truck
as he rounded a curve on Golf Club Road around three.
Police say as Bradner's truck skidded across the road, the water in the
truck also slid from side to side -- making it hard to regain control.
The truck finally flipped on the side of the road.
Bradner was thrown from the vehicle and died when the truck rolled over

Four people are dead and more than two dozen injured from an explosion at a
Los Angeles toy factory.

Two people are dead and more than a hundred became sick in Leonardtown,
Maryland after eating at a church dinner.

stuffed ham and fried oysters at the church.
County and state health officials are trying to determine if the Salmonella
B bacteria came from a food handler at the church, someone who brought the food
from home or a local market.

A national education report says Virginia is increasing the number of high
school students in advanced math and science classes.
But the reports says the state has NOT made gains in the reading and math
scores of students in grades four and eight.

Virginia Military Institute lost another female cadet.
A spokesman said this week's departure of an 18- year- old Fairfax County
student was voluntary.
When the school year started in August, V-M-I enrolled 30 women.
That number is now 25.
Four of the departures have been voluntary.
One woman was suspended for punching an upperclassman.

Some Christiansburg residents don't want to see their post office go, so
they've turned to their Congressmen.
Town leaders say they're opposed to closing the downtown facility.
A new, larger, post office is now up and running near the New River Valley
