president Paul Torgersen has acknowledged.
Yesterday, Torgersen said the school will hire a vice president for minority
affairs to deal with such issues.
A series of problems in recent month have included a racially offensive
e-mail, reports of shouted racial epithets at blacks,
and anti-gay graffiti.
Those problems were aggravated when students discovered evidence that two
prominent Tech graduates were founding members of a Ku Klux Klan chapter at the
school.

A-E-P's request to build a high voltage power line in Southwest Virginia is
attracting additional attention from ONE legislator.
Congressman Rick Boucher wants the State Corporation Commission and U-S
Forest Service to determine if the NEED exists.
The Democrat is also asking the two agencies to research alternatives to
building a 765- kilovolt line.
American Electric Power says a high voltage line is needed to meet the
growing demand for electricity.
