inside the chuch, the neighborhood learned two Floyd County students stand

John Vaughn owns the paint gun -- but had nothing to do with the incident.
But he showed up anyway to apologize.

But African Americans in the area say it isn't an isolated incident. They
say the underlying problem is in the county School system.

A dangerous road and a controversial high voltage power line have some
Montgomery County residents concerned about their safety.
They're problems county supervisors are still trying to solve.

Power's proposal to build a high voltage power line through parts of the New
The line would extend from Wyoming County, West Virginia to Cloverdale.
The power giant says the line is necessary to avoid future power outages--
But opponents say its a money making venture and urged the Supervisors to
take a stand.

the stretch of road that connects Christiansburg to Radford.
Four of the fatalities were in recent weeks.
Residents would like to see the road widened, but immediate solutions
include increased police patrols, a lowering of the speed limit and outlawing

Police say yesterday's high speed chase from Christiansburg to Roanoke is a

An early-morning argument ended in murder in Lynchburg.
27-year old Sandra Allen is charged with fatally stabbing her husband during
an argument overnight.

Letterman didn't pull any punches and asked his old friend how much of the

His story inspired the 1993 film "Rudy" about a walk-on football player who
achieves his dream of playing for Notre Dame.
Today, the real- life Rudy Ruettiger (ROOT-ih-ger) is traveling the country,
hoping to inspire others to follow THEIR dreams.

For a brief moment in 1975, Ruettiger realized his lifelong dream when he
took the field for his beloved Notre Dame, chalking up a quarterback sack in
the final seconds.
Three years ago, Rudy found himself in the White House, watching his movie
with President Clinton, Joe Montana and Colin Powell.

A freak accident in Houston left firefighters with an unusual task.
A woman was trapped underneath a concrete block after she was ejected from
Emergency crews used shovels to dig the security guard
out from underneath the 1-ton concrete block.
Apparently her car hit the concrete- lifting the pillar which landed on top
Amazingly she only suffered a broken arm.
