Virginia's largest Southern Baptist organization is down some 300-thousand dollars.
That was yesterday's report from the treasurer at the denomination's annual meeting in Roanoke.
This comes after an internal split, where about ten percent of member churches have defected to the conservative wing.
The conservative wing of the state's Southern Baptists split from the Baptist General Association of Virginia in the summer of 19-96.
There have been long-running power struggles between Southern Baptist moderates and conservatives across the country.

Bell Atlantic says this is the first time it has raised rates since 19-84.
A federal law passed last year deregulated pay-phones.

Bell Atlantic says it took a "long, hard" look at the Virginia market and decided 35-cents was a fair rate.

Twenty-seven- year- old Sandra Allen is charged with fatally stabbing her husband during an argument. Thirty-three- year- old Lawrence Eugene Allen died from a knife wound to the chest. It happened at a friend's apartment on Rivermont Avenue.
Authorities say they'd been called in before to handle disputes between the recently-married couple.
Sandra Allen was appointed an attorney during a brief court appearance yesterday.
She remains held without bond in the Lynchburg city jail.

A couple from Pennsylvania, allegedly driving a stolen car, ran from police in Christiansburg.
They were stopped 40 miles later in Roanoke, after driving through five jurisdictions.
No one was hurt, officers say cooperation made it work.

Heather Worthington, the driver, is in jail without bond charged with auto theft and reckless driving.
Her husband John will be extradited to Pennsylvania where he faces theft and fraud charges.

The University of Virginia is dealing with lawsuits.
Some of the 18 people injured in a balcony collapse are seeking damages.

The attorneys involved say at least six claims are already on record and three more will be filed next week.
One person died in the collapse, moments before graduation, and 18 others were injured.
A corroded iron rod that had supported the veranda snapped, plunging about two dozen people onto a concrete walkway 15 feet below.
