A grand jury handed down indictments yesterday in two different cases in which a mine roof collapsed--killing some coal miners.
SOLUS Coal, Incorporated of Ceder Bluff and Parts Corporation of America of Coeburn along with employees from both companies face a total of 26 indictments.
The charges include falsifying information and safety violations.
If convicted SOLUS Coal could pay as much as eight- and- a- half million dollars in fines, Parts Corporation of America up to four- and- a- half million.

The Ice Palace officially opened its doors at a ribbon-cutting ceremony yesterday.
Workers were busy putting together the final touches...
While management escorted V-I-P's on a tour of the new facility.
The Ice Palace is expected to get some major competition when a downtown ice rink opens next year.
But yesterday, the Ice Palace developer said HIS rink should be more than enough to satisfy Roanoke skaters.

The downtown ice rink will include a 12-screen movie theater when it opens.
It also will be the official practice facility for the Roanoke Express.
Developers say work on the downtown building should start in March.
