First Union says it's taking over Philadelphia-based CoreStates Financial for a reported 16-point-six BILLION dollars in stock.

A GUILTY plea today from a Carroll County man who says he was high on crack cocaine when he shot, stabbed and beat his roommate.
22-year old Teddy Roe Dixon faces two life sentences plus six years for murdering 50-year old William Charles Epperson.
The two lived together in Cana (Cain-Uh).
In a confession-- Dixon said he shot Epperson after stealing money from Epperson's video store to buy drugs.
Commonwealth's attorney Greg Goad had expected to try the case tomorrow.
Sentencing is scheduled for February.
