The explosion and fire blew off the roof and gutted the inside of the home.
Officials are still trying to identify the body.
They say Maria escaped the fire and was taken to a nearby hospital.

An elderly man was found dead in his home in Henry County yesterday morning.
Authorities say the victim was 70- year- old John Henry Yancey, Senior of Bassett.
Yancey's son found him lying in a pool of blood in an upstairs bedroom.
The son told investigators that he heard his father coughing and went upstairs to check on him.
The cause of death has not been determined.

In a program launched in the last few weeks, metal "boots" are attached to cars to immobilize the vehicles until the parent agrees to a payment schedule.

It left below-average harvests for Virginia's cotton, corn, soybean and peanut crops.
Cash receipts from the four crops totaled 309 million dollars last year.
Agricultural economists haven't yet estimated the year's losses.
Supplies of the four crops are up elsewhere, which means prices will stay low.
Most of Virginia's tobacco crop is irrigated, so the drought did NOT cause much tobacco damage.
