A cross burning behind a church in Floyd County-
It's the latest in a string of incidents at Indian Valley Presbyterian
Church. Keith Humphry will have the story.

on the outer walls of the Indian Valley Presbyterian Church where he's the

More recently someone shot out the light fixtures with a B-B gun. Then
this past weekend... there was the cross BEHIND the church.
Pastor O'Hara believes the culprits may have propped it up against the back
wall, then pushed it over into the grass when the flames appeared to threaten

A 16-year old girl who died in a car crash yesterday was an honor student at
Dan River High School.
Ruth Cardwell was killed when the car she was riding in flipped over on
Route 726 in Ringgold.

Prosecutors in the Louise Woodward case want the Massachusetts high court to

It's called one of Florida's worst boating accidents.
A 45 foot cigarette boat with two people aboard slammed into a 31 foot cabin
cruiser on the Intercoastal waterway overnight.

The pleasure boat was nearly cut in two- All six people aboard were killed.
The men were in town for a sales meeting
The driver and passenger in the speed boat are in serious condition.
Investigators believe speed may have played a part.
Alcohol bottles were found in the speed boat and water but it's not known if
alcohol was involved.
The city of Roanoke wants prospective home buyers to watch out for flood
areas. We'll tell you what it's doing to help in just a moment,

A Henry County jailor must pay 250 dollars for roughing up an inmate.
A jury convicted Nicholas Basha of assault and battery for shoving an inmate
against a wall.
The inmate apparently ignored Basha's orders.
Character witnesses say Basha is a good guard who lost his temper.
But a fellow guard says Basha lied to supervisors, denying he hit the
Thousands of pennies will make the holiday brighter for hundreds of needy
families in Montgomery County.
A penny drive at Blacksburg High school netted 18-hundred dollars for the

The students also put together 220 food baskets for the needy.

Let's begin this morning in Charlottesville where unbeatens Tech and UVa met
in women's hoops to get this rivalry week started.
