A burning cross on the lawn behind a church in Floyd County has left its minister looking for answers.
He says this is the latest in a series of racial attacks on the church.

SUPER=03-Floyd Co.

In October Pastor Diarmuid O'Hara found graffiti on the exterior of the Indian Valley Presbyterian Church. It read "K-K-K" and "White Power." More recently someone shot out the light fixtures with a B-B gun.
Then this past weekend, a cross was found burning behind the church.
Pastor O'Hara believes the culprits may have propped the cross up against the back wall, then pushed it over into the grass when the flames appeared to threaten the church.

Movie Review 11/28
"Starship Troopers" is a live action cartoon with a lot of graphic, cartoonlike violence including dismemberment and decapitation by giant mechanical looking bugs.
In a militaristic future, the Earth is under attack from colonies of giant bugs from another galaxy. A group of young recruits called citizens, or cannon fodder as it turns out, take off to rescue humanity from the arachnid. Among them Casper Van Dien, Dina Mayer and Jake Busey.
Unfortunately their commanders have underestimated both the brain power and the cunning of the insects with disastrous results.
"Starship Troopers" pulls out every old army cliche and updates it with bigger, but not better, guns. Giant bug bombs may have been more effective. "Starship Troopers" gets a D+ It's too silly to be serious; too serious and bloody to work as a parody. The special effects are good, but the movie doesn't have much else to offer.
The Jackal for 12/5
"The Jackal" is a pretty good action movie if not compared either to the Fredrick Forsythe novel or the earlier movie "Day of the Jackal". Some lapses in logic need to be overlooked as well.
Bruce Willis is a ruthless, remorseless assassin known only as the jackal. He is hired by some Russian mobsters to make a very bloody, very public hit on a highly visible American.
Since the jackal is a master of disguise an FBI agent, Sidney Poitier and a Russian Major played by Diane Venora are forced by circumstances to enlist the help of an IRA terrorist, Richard Gere, who is the only person alive to ever see the jackal's face.
The first part of the movie is intriguing, but when it becomes a contest between Willis and Gere, the movie moves along predictable lines. "The Jackal" gets a B-, It works only as long as the viewer can suspend disbelief and logic. cutopen
