Parental notification remains a hot issue in the Commonwealth--
A federal appeals court in Richmond has set a hearing for next March on
the challenge to Virginia's new abortion law.
The hearing is to decide whether the law stays in effect while the lawsuit
brought against it by Planned Parenthood works its way through the courts.
Planned Parenthood contends the notification law is unconstitutional.
It took effect July first and says a judge MAY waive the notification
requirement if he finds that the girl is mature enough.
Other state parental notification laws say the judge SHALL grant the waiver
if he finds the girl is mature.
