SS=VHSL FOOTBALL


William Fleming is supposed to play Hampton for the Division Five state title as part of a doubleheader at the new 30 thousand seat stadium on the Norfolk State University campus this Saturday.
But this afternoon News 7 discovered that the venue for this game may be moved, and that one of the sites being considered as a replacement is Hampton's home field at Todd Stadium.
Last night the Tidewater area was hit with close to an inch and a half of rain and today the Virginia High School League's executive director Ken Tilley was in Norfolk inspecting the field.
No decision on a possible change will come until tomorrow.
But Fleming coach George Miller thinks any thought of moving the game at this date is absurd!

Fleming earned the right to play for the title by manhandling West Potomac last Saturday in the state semi-finals in Arlington.
And Miller insists his team will not be in awe of the defending state champs, who have ranked in the nation's top 10 for the past two seasons.

The VHSL will be have a tough time justifying a site change.
For starters they have a two year contract to play the game at Norfolk State, and secondly Norfolk city officials have vowed to do everything to have the field in great shape for the game including using helicopters to dry it out.

While it may not look like it, this Christmas tree is almost 14-hundred feet in the air.
Of course most of that height is it's stand... which just happens to be the 110th floor of the World Trade Center.
