A man wanted for questioning in the murder of an elderly Lynchburg resident is back in the Hill City tonight.

27-year old Kenneth Lloyd Lawson was returned to Lynchburg this afternoon following his arrest on auto theft charges.
Maryland authorities stopped Lawson yesterday after he ran a red light in Prince George County.
Lawson was driving the 1993 red Lexus stolen from 72-year old murder victim Samuel York.
Police would not say whether Lawson is a suspect in York's death.

Another college student in the Commonwealth has died in an alcohol related accident.
Police say Saturday night, University of Virginia student, 21-year old Leslie Anne Baltz of Reston was drinking before she fell down a flight of stairs and hit her head.
Baltz died Sunday.
Authorities say her blood-alcohol level was three times the legal limit.
This is the fifth alcohol-related death of a college student in Virginia in the last month.

The Thanksgiving fire left about 60 families homeless-- contributions to help the victims can be made at the Red Cross office on Main Street in Danville.

Meat markets will soon be selling beef treated with cobalt gamma rays. Today, the Food and Drug Administration approved the use of irradiation to kill harmful bacteria such as E-coli.

Acting FDA commissioner Doctor Michael Friedman says irradiation will become a useful tool in combating food-borne illness.
