When James Reid was sober he was a church going man who helped the community.

James Reid's sister was among the witnesses helping defense attorneys try to keep their client off death row for the murder of 90- year old Annie Lester.
The defense paints Reid as a violent alcoholic in poor health who can't control his temper.
Medical experts who testified today bolstered that view.
In 1968-- Reid was in a car accident that left him with a seizure disorder and epilepsy.
That-- coupled with years of drinking, a bad heart and terminal cancer, experts say, damaged Reid's brain, leaving him unable to think rationally.
A few years ago-- he stabbed his ex wife.
