sparing his life.

keep their client off death row for the murder of 90- year old Annie Lester.
The defense paints Reid as a violent alcoholic in poor health who can't
control his temper.
Medical experts who testified today bolstered that view.
In 1968-- Reid was in a car accident that left him with a seizure disorder
That-- coupled with years of drinking, a bad heart and terminal cancer,
experts say, damaged Reid's brain, leaving him unable to think rationally.
A few years ago-- he stabbed his ex wife.

filing suit against the Grayson County Sheriff.

Emmett Cressell Junior is one of two men accused of burning a black man alive-
and beheading him.
Cressell says Sheriff Jerry Wilson denied him special food in jail after he
had a tooth pulled on October 30th.
36 year old Cressell is in the Grayson County jail- He's charged in the
death of Garnett Johnson- who was alive when he was set on fire in July.
Johnson was decapitated after his death.
Coming up on News-7 at Eleven, The search continues for a Lynchburg man who
apparently disappeared last weekend,
and a judge strikes out a plan to pave over a Salem ball park.
A fourth day of searching today turned up no trace of a Lynchburg man who
disappeared in Delaware last weekend.
22-year old Mark (DOE-ma-LESKY) Domaleski had taken a year off from Mary
Washington College to volunteer with the Americorps program.
He was working near "Lewes, Delaware" when he vanished sometime Saturday.
Domaleski also worked with Lynchburg's Habitat for Humanity chapter. Friends
there learned of his disappearance today.

Police say Domaleski's wallet and belongings were found intact in his
Americorps cabin.. and that there was "no" sign of foul play.
Salem sports enthusiasts will be able to continue using Oakey Field for
soccer and softball practice.
Circuit Judge Robert Doherty has sided with Salem City Council.
Council denied a rezoning and special-use request by two men who wanted to
turn the ballfield into a used car lot.
The city made a deal to sell the property to Paul and Gary Duncan.
The contract required rezoning, though, and that was promptly turned down by
council amid public outcries against the plans.
The Duncans could not be reached for comment.
State police have stopped searching through debris from a Danville apartment

They settled the claims today of a man who lost part of his finger in a
doorjam at the Y-M-C-A last year.

him for medical bills and the pain of loosing his fingertip.

The way Coates tells it, Andy Hudick was a mad man, oblivious to the fact
that he'd just cut off Coates' fingertip by slamming the door shut.
Hudick called Coates about a week after the incident in January of last year
to say he was sorry it happened.
((HE SAID HE REMEMBERED THE DOOR COMING OPEN, AND HE CLOSED THE DOOR AND THE
REST OF THE SITUATION WAS A KALEIDESCOPE OF ISSUES. ))
Hudick says now, that he wanted to make amends, but that his attorneys told
him to keep quiet.

WAY OUT OF PROPORTION.))
He admits he slammed the door once, in an instinctive reaction to an
obstacle in his way on the racquetball court.
The door didn't latch, Hudick says, so he shut it again... not over and
over again, as others have said.

BECAUSE WE BELIEVE THEY WOULD HAVE FOUND HIM INNOCENT OF ALL OF THESE TERRIBLE

Hudick did NOT testify, because the case was settled before the defense
even cross examined Coates.
Hudick's net worth is at least a million dollars, but it's his HOMEOWNERS
INSURANCE that will pay the 165,000 settlement.

The band's founder announced today that the nine-year old band would split
up peacefully at the end of this year.
Little Texas won the Country Music Association's Vocal Group of the Year
Award in 1994 and had hits with songs like "My Love," "What Might Have Been"
and "God Bless Texas."
Little Texas and all of its six members are scheduled to perform December 12
at Cattle Annie's in Lynchburg.
Governor George Allen's father-- Coach George Allen-- died just before his
son won the governor's race four years ago.
But six weeks ago, his 1963 Chicago Bears championship ring showed up in an
old shaving kit in a pile of trash at the airport in Albany, New York.
Today, Denver resident Jim Karlik -- who found it-- showed up to hand it
