Reid was convicted of beating and stabbing Annie Lester in her home last October.
Yesterday Reid entered an Alford plea in court in hopes of avoiding the death penalty.
The plea acknowledges the state's evidence-- without admitting guilt.
The defense maintains Reid does NOT remember what happened that day because he had been drinking heavily.
His attorneys point to the fact Reid did not try to conceal his blood covered clothes after the crime as an indication of his state of mind.

For eight days the testimony against Winnie Madikizela has been extremely damning. That members of her group of body guards -- known as the Madela United Football Club-- has carried out kidnappings, torture and murder on her orders.

Jerry Richardson/Hearing Witness: Winnie Mandela has always denied that she ordered the killing, and today she was defiant again.

And how is her defiance playing. Many still support her but some are more skeptical.
