State police say they've launched an investigation into whether Lieutenant
John McCane mis-appropriated public money.
Botetourt County Commonwealth's attorney Joel Branscom has been appointed
special prosecutor for the case.
Branscom characterized the incident as "strange behavior" on McCane's part,
but he's not sure if any laws were broken.
Branscom adds the amount of money involved was probably less than one
thousand dollars.
