A federal jury has concluded that Terry Nichols conspired to blow up the
Oklahoma City federal building--
The jury found Nichols guilty of conspiracy and involuntary manslaughter,
but not murder.
He could still be sentenced to death.

((Terry Nichol's attorney Michael Tigar had very little to say as he left the
court house. For six days the jury deliberated the fate of his client Tuesday
they reached a verdict.
Guilty on count one-conspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction. not
guilty on count two-use of a weapon of mass destruction and not guilty of
destruction by explosion.
The jury answered yes to two questions the crime resulted in death and death
was forseeable .
But jurors did not find Nichols guilty of first degree murder for the deaths
of eight federal agents killed in the bombing. They instead ruled that he was
guilty of involuntary manslaughter.

Nichols was accused of plotting the april 19, 1995 bombing of the murrah
federal building with timothy mcveigh. mcveigh an army buddy of nichols .has
already been sentenced to die for the attack that killed 168 people.

One woman's allegations that she was raped by two Virginia Tech football
players has found new life in a federal appeals court.
Former Hokies James Crawford and Tony Morrison were never found guilty of
any criminal wrongdoing-- but the rape allegations landed them and the school
in civil court.
Today, the Fourth U-S Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond ruled Christy
Brzonkala's case does have merit and sent it back to federal Judge Jackson
Kiser in Roanoke.

Brzonkala's claim against the players that her alleged rape is a
gender-based hate crime is the first test of the 19-94 "federal Violence
Against Women Act" to make it out of appeals court.
Virginia Tech is being sued under Title Nine.
Brzonkala claims the school drove her to quit by NOT responding more
effectively to her rape allegations when school officials learned of them.
Blacksburg attorney Joe Painter, who represents James Crawford, says he will
ask for the full appeals court to take up the case.

A collision between a car and tractor trailer sent one man to the hospital
Around 6:15, the driver of this pickup was headed north on Route 29 near
Lynchburg when he collided with a flatbed trailer.
Rescue crews spent 20-minutes cutting the victim from the wreckage.
He was transported to Lynchburg General Hospital..his injuries are not
believed to be life- threatening.
The man's identity hasn't been released.
State police say the driver of the flatbed may be charged with failing to
yield the right of way.

In Salem, one man was injured in what is being considered an electrical fire
this afternoon at a landmark.
Salem fire officials say the blaze broke out just after two at the old
McVitty Carriage House.
Officials say it was hard to contain the fire, because it was trapped in a
wall, making it difficult to locate the origin.
The fire gutted the second floor apartment in the 120-year old structure.
The injured man's condition is NOT being released.
In Lynchburg, arson is being blamed for a fire that gutted a Lynchburg
apartment and injured a small girl ten days ago.
Firefighter Robert Ore was honored last week for pulling 3-year old Tiana
Hubbard from her burning home the night of December 13th.
Fire officials say the blaze started in the kitchen, but they've ruled out
any accidental causes.

According to biblical tradition, the Jews reclaimed the remains of Solomon's
Temple which was destroyed, and thought they only had enough oil for one
night's candle-- instead, it burned for eight days-- the Chanukkah miracle.

Now, one candle is lit in the menorah each night for eight nights.
Chanukkah is actually a minor holiday in the Jewish tradition, but Brumberg
says it's been in the spotlight more so Jewish children don't feel left out
