American Electric Power has announced it has plans to merge with a
Dallas-based company.

Currently, A-E-P is the third biggest utility in the country.
It supplies power to nine states.
After the merger with Central and South West, a company based in Dallas,
A-E-P will pick up four more states.
The combined company plans to cut 13-hundred jobs.
But A-E-P says those cuts will come at the corporate level.
And it says electricity rates in Southwest Virginia will stay among the
country's lowest.

contribution to Gilmore to over two million.

century landmark.
