The area is beginning to dig out from its first big snow fall in almost two years.
With as much as a foot of snow reported in some places, the task of clearing roads was difficult at best.
Although the snow has tapered off, it continues to fall and motorists could find some challenges trying to get to work in the morning.

Now, some of the main highways like I-81 and route 220 look pretty good right now. But VDOT crews apparently still has a lot of work in front of them.
SUPER=01-Todd Marshall/V-Dot Spokesman

With me is Todd Marshall. Todd, what is the situation at this point and what can be expected by midday tomorrow, barring anymore snow fall?

Thanks. Now around the city, the first street bridge will remain closed until the snow is gone. Weight restriction prevent snow crews from clearing it.
And speaking of snow crews, the word is they hope to get to residential streets overnight, providing we don't get anymore snow. And Valley metro will run on time, but on snow routes only.
Anyone else wanting more information, should call 853-2225, but city officials ask that you not call to find out when your street will be plowed.
Now, around 8:30 this evening, airport officials said the main runway is open and visibility is clear, but at least one airline, US Air, has cancelled its remaining inbound service tonight. So it may be late morning before things get back on schedule.
Those who had planned to leave tomorrow for the GATOR BOWL in Florida are advised to contact their airlines first.
