A routine traffic stop in Rockbridge County resulted in felony drug charges against two Washington, D.C. residents.
Police pulled over Basil Anthony Hermitt and Cynthia Denise Barnett for speeding early this morning and found 12-pounds of marijuana.
The drugs were disguised as a Christmas gift.
Police said the marijuana had a street value of about 25-thousand dollars.
Both are charged with intent to distribute marijuana, and bringing drugs into Commonwealth.

A fire demolished a home along Wendell Scott Drive in Danville on New Year's Day.
The fire started when an appliance ignited gas fumes inside the house.
Earlier city workers shut off the home's gas furnace while trying to find a gas leak, but they forgot to turn off the electricity.
No one was injured in the blaze.

Danville police today arrested 24-year old Joe Adrian Leftwich in the murder of Teresa Anderson Hayes December 20th.
Police believe Leftwich robbed the woman of her jewelry then repeatedly shot her in the head.
Charges against leftwich include one count of capital murder and robbery.
This is the second arrest in the case--the first suspect was released after an eyewitness misidentified him.

The Mayor of Snow Hill, Maryland is in trouble over a pornographic Internet prank.
Mayor Craig Johnson, also a former sheriff's deputy, allegedly used his police cruiser as part of a pornographic picture posted on a web site.
Some residents say he should resign as mayor... sheriff's deputies are very unhappy.
