The owner of a Danville bookstore was shot in a robbery this afternoon.
The suspect is still at large.

It happened just after three o'clock, at the Christian Bookstore on South Market Street.
Police aren't releasing many details on just what happened.
But they say a man shot storekeeper Fred Bevill twice, took money from the register and Bevill's wallet and ran off.
Bevill is listed in serious, but stable condition at the Danville Regional Medical Center.
The suspect is described as a black man in his 20's, wearing a dark stocking cap, green sweater and gray overcoat.

Court records indicate Aquillia Barnette admitted to police that he killed his girlfriend outside her home in Roanoke a year and a half ago.

The 24-year old suspect covered his face today as he entered the federal courthouse.
Prosecutors plan to portray Barnette as a violent man who has been involved in several crimes in the past. They plan to ask the jury for a death sentence.

He says the job has been both rewarding and frustrating... and he's concerned about what he sees happening to families.
Fowler says the three biggest problems are drugs, parents who aren't committed to their children, and the breakdown of the family.

Dr. Fred Edmunds was a noted authority on the art of playing the bones.
He was 15 when he bought his first set of bones at a church retreat.
In his later years, he worked hard to keep the 5000-year-old tradition alive.
And he'd appeared on WDBJ-7 several times over the years.
Edmunds died at his home in Lexington December 28th.
He was 77.
