The mother and step-father of a four- year- old murder victim will be back
in a Montgomery County courtroom today.
Elizabeth Jessie has already admitted her role in the death of her young
daughter.
Now her husband wills stand trial for his alleged involvement in the murder.

Kenneth Jessie pleaded NOT guilty to first degree murder and child abuse.
The charges stem from the death of his four year old step-daughter-- Annie
Leftwich.
Authorities say the little girl was beaten, burned, bound and gagged in her
Dickenson County home, last May, possibly as punishment for bedwetting.
It took court officials several hours to seat a jury.

The potential jurors were asked questions such as how many children they
have and their thoughts on parenting.
But most importantly prosecutors and the defense tried to decipher their
feelings on child abuse.

Several potential jurors were actually excused early on-- saying they could
NOT handle such a sensitive issue.
Jessie's wife, Elizabeth, was also in court.
She pleaded guilty to felony child abuse and second degree murder.
Her attorney says she MAY testify against her husband.
