The Fortune-500 company WILL say Innotech is cutting its staff in four departments:

The government hopes to prove that the Abeds set at least half a dozen fires in the early 1990's... part of a pattern of intimidation and lawlessness designed to take control of the convenience store trade in the Roanoke Valley.

Jury selection is taking a little longer than usual- -with attorneys for the nine men of Middle-Eastern descent trying to determine whether any of the potential jurors might be prejudiced against Arab followers of Islam.
They called 75 citizens from far-flung corners of Western Virginia- -who might be less likely to have heard about case.
They hope to have a jury seated tomorrow.

A jury began hearing evidence today in a million-dollar lawsuit against three Danville police officers.

Sam Sakellaris Junior says he was beaten by three officers during a routine traffic stop.
This is what Sakellaris looked like after the alleged attack in February 1994.
The officers say they did nothing wrong... and say it was Sakellaris who started throwing punches.
The civil trial got underway today in federal court in Danville and is expected to last through the week.

A Halifax County high school student who says she was raped on campus by two boys last June has now been charged with sexual misconduct.

She says a teacher finally walked in and stopped the incident.
Judge Franklin Slaydon rejected the girl's sexual assault claims.

Each of the boys were charged with one count of sodomy and one was charged with fornication.

The railroad announced today it is selling North American Van Lines.
It's a deal worth 200-million dollars.
Over the years, North American has struggled to turn a profit.
And Norfolk Southern could not afford to keep the moving company.
The railroad has reported low earnings because it is spending so much money in the process of acquiring Conrail, a railroad based in Philadelphia.
Norfolk Southern said it wants to focus solely on that merger, which will be finalized this summer.
N-S said it has no plans to sell its one remaining subsidiary, a natural resources company.

Butler met Rutan 11 years ago when he designed the emergency chutes for the round-the-world Voyager flight.
For this flight, Rutan turned to Butler again, but he needed more than just a parachute.

Rutan was prepared for everything but the cactus he landed on... Painful, but thanks to the chutes, he and Melton weren't on the gondola when it hit power lines and exploded in Texas.
Sunday morning, Rutan left a thankyou message on Butler's answering machine.
