In his opening statement, the government prosecutor says these are not
sophisticated white collar crimes, but "garden variety arsons" that eventually
gave rise to increasingly more violent crimes... including robbery and murder.
Seven of the nine defendants are members of the same Arabic family.
The remaining two were business associates of the Abeds.
"This was NOT an organized crime family," said one defense attorney today.
"It's a very DISorganized family.
Some members may have committed crimes," he concedes.

cigarette smoking accerleates harding of the arteries by 50-percent.

Researchers measured the walls of the carotid artery of 11-thousand people.
