An attorney is asking that felony charges against his client be dismissed in
Giles County because the commonwealth's attorney allegedly failed to fill out
the appropriate paperwork.

Bowles allegedly committed breaking and entering as well as grand larceny in
February of last year.
At the time the charges were filed-- Bowles was incarcerated in West

School officials say a Salem seventh- grader came to school with a fully
loaded semi automatic pistol in his backpack this week.
The 13 year old, a student at Andrew Lewis Middle School, has been charged
with possession of a firearm on school property.
He was released into his parents' custody.
The administration is recommending the student be expelled-- he's currently
suspended for 10 days.

Roanoke postal workers made a startling discovery this week.
A live pipe bomb was found among packages waiting to be delivered at the
main post office on Rutherford Avenue.

State Police are looking for a man who tried to abduct a woman on
Interstate-81 today.
The woman's car broke down near the 581 interchange this morning.
A man driving a green Jeep Cherokee stopped and offered to let her use his
cellphone.
When she got to his vehicle, he grabbed her by the jacket and tried to get
her into the Jeep.
She broke free and he drove away.
Police are hoping anyone who saw the incident will give them a call.

A man who says he firebombed the Corner Store in Roanoke is telling his
tale to a federal jury this evening.
Richard Wayne Chisholm, Junior, says the deal was made at the Speedway Mart
about a week before the Corner Store fire.

Chisholm says Abed family members were there, but they spoke in Arabic. He
testified that they later told him that Fahad Tawalbeh- -the owner of the
Speedway- -would pay 2-thousand dollars to have the other store burned.

business.
After scoping out the store and the neighborhood, Chisholm says he and
Amar, Rod and Obayda Abed came up with a plan.

gasoline at the 7-11 and stuffed a rag in it.
Chisholm says Amar lit the rag and Chisholm threw the Molotov Cocktail

privatize the tobacco industry.

You may not recognize him, but Director John Neighbors has been responsible
for making many of our NEWS-7 newscasts-- including this one-- appear flawless
on the air.
We all got together today to recognize his talents and his kindness ...and
to wish him well on his retirement.
In his 32-years here, Johnny's seen many changes in television.
We've always counted on his even-handed wisdom, tempered with calm
determination and a great attitude... in the face of madness all around him.
Johnny's going to direct his energies toward his family and travel from now
on.
Your Hometown Station won't be the same without him.
