Fire officials say the fire was probably accidental.
They suspect Edmonds spilled some kerosene while trying to fill a heater next to his kitchen stove.
It's possible a spark set off a chain reaction which burned the house down. A shooting in Lynchburg early yesterday morning sent one man to the hospital.
Police found 22- year- old Vincent E. Johnson at the intersection of 10th and Fillmore.
He remains in critical condition at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Investigators are asking anyone who knows anything about the shooting to call them.
