The proposal comes from council member Nelson Harris, who says a similar program in Petersburg has worked well.

MOVIE-Review 1/23/98 There should be several Oscar nominations coming out of "Good Will Hunting" The original script by Matt Damon and Ben Afflek, who also star in the film, is well written, the story compelling. Performances are splendid by the young men and by Robin Williams who plays a psychologist with problems of his own. Damon is Wil Hunting, a young genius beset by personal problems that keep him in trouble. A famous MIT math professor recognizes Will's gift and rescues him from a jail term with the condition that he work with the professor and that he see a counselor. As the counselor Robin Williams has rarely been more sympathetic. His Shawn and Damon's Will forge a bond that brings healing to them both. Minnie Driver is a young woman who believes in Will even when he doesn't believe in himself. "Good Will Hunting" gets an A. Good story, good acting, satisfying ending. cutopen

Getting on the Internet may soon become faster and cheaper in southwest Virginia.
Virginia Tech is discussing ways to do that with the Federal Communications Commission
The college will take part in an auction of wireless spectrum space that begins February 18th.
With the space, Tech could provide businesses, schools, local governments and hospitals with access to high-speed wireless voice and data transmissions.
People could link their computers to the wireless spectrum with a roof-mounted dish the size of a dinner plate.
