The nation's capital is still reeling from the latest accusations hurled at President Clinton.

((The business of the nation was the President's official agenda this morning, as he met with P-L-O chief, Yassar Arafat.
But reporters' questions soon turned to the staggering allegations against him.
BITE (PRESIDENT CLINTON): LET'S GET TO THE BIG ISSUES THERE...ABOUT THE NATURE OF THE RELATIONSHIP AND WHETHER I SUGGESTED ANYBODY NOT TELL THE TRUTH. THOSE...THAT IS FALSE.
The new allegations against the President are so politically volatile...they make Paula Jones' original charges of sexual harassment look like a dress rehearsal for the real show.
This is Monica Lewinsky...who, as a 21 year-old White House intern, is alleged to have had an affair with Bill Clinton. And who Clinton allegedly instructed to cover it up.
Among other things, there's also word that they exchanged gifts in their relationship.
Earlier today, Attorney General Janet Reno predictably refused to comment directly on the matter.
BITE (JANET RENO/ATTORNEY GENERAL): I THINK IT IS IMPORTANT THAT EVERYONE DO THEIR DUTY...DO THEIR DUTY BASED ON THE EVIDENCE AND THE LAW AND SERVE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.
Independent counsel, Kenneth Star is investigating Clinton for allegations of suborning perjury, false statements, and obstruction of justice.

(BITE OF KENNETH STARR/INDEPENDENT COUNSEL)

Starr's office recently mounted a surveillance operation of Lewinsky in a Washington area hotel. Her friend and former-colleague Linda Tripp was wearing a wire. Lewinsky...reportedly upset, pleaded with Tripp to help her cover up the alleged affair...allegedly saying the President wanted her to deny any relationship.
All of this growing out of Paula Jones' lawyers investigating Clinton's sexual history.
TAG (JONATHAN FREED/CBS NEWS): THE PRESIDENT IS SAYING THE AMERICAN PEOPLE HAVE A RIGHT TO GET ANSWERS...AND HE SAYS HE WANTS THEM TO KNOW MORE RATHER THAN LESS...SOONER RATHER THAN LATER. J-F...THE WHITE HOUSE.))
