The nation's capital is still reeling from the latest accusations hurled at
Independent counsel Kenneth Starr is investigating the President for
allegations of perjury, false statements and obstruction of justice.
Mr. Clinton continues to deny any improper relationship with former White
House intern Monica Lewinsky.

But reporters' questions soon turned to the staggering allegations against

The new allegations against the President are so politically volatile...they
make Paula Jones' original charges of sexual harassment look like a dress

This is Monica Lewinsky...who, as a 21 year-old White House intern, is alleged
to have had an affair with Bill Clinton. And who Clinton allegedly instructed
to cover it up.
Among other things, there's also word that they exchanged gifts in their

directly on the matter.

cover up the alleged affair...allegedly saying the President wanted her to
deny any relationship.

Fairlea, West Virginia is mourning a volunteer firefighter today.
Twenty-four- year- old Gregory Scott Carter was killed yesterday when a
grocery store caught fire.

Today is the 25th anniversary of the landmark Roe versus Wade Supreme Court
ruling that legalized abortion.
Both abortion rights advocates and opponents will mark the occasion with
marches and rallies across the country.
Norma McCorvey, who went by the name "Jane Roe" in the 19-73 case, now says
she's dedicated to OVERTURNING the law.
Anti-abortion activists in Roanoke are heading to Washington today to speak
out on the rights to life.
The "Right to Life" march is an annual event marking the anniversary of the
Roe verses Wade decision.
Local organizers for "Life Chain", an anti-abortion group in Roanoke hope to
draw politicians' attention to the abortion issue.

Abortion rights activists are also gathering outside the Supreme Court
today to speak out in support of the abortion ruling.
They are urging abortion foes to join them in the attempt to educate and

In Lynchburg, about a hundred people turned out to take part in a very

The twelve days of Christmas may be over, but in Missouri, the swans were

The swans were spotted huddled together in icy water of an industrial park,
in jeopardy of starving to death.
Rescuers managed to get the birds off the pond and into their nets...
with one notable exception who made for the parking lot, but even he was caught
with little trouble.
The birds were then shipped to a sanctuary until it's decided what to do
with the swans.
