The rash of alcohol-related deaths on Virginia college campuses has sparked
a move to ban all booze from university grounds.

Weyer's Cave Delegate Steve Landes filed a bill in the General Assembly.
It would make possession or consumption of alcohol anywhere on the grounds
of a state- supported school a class two misdemeanor.
The ban would apparently apply to everything from dorms to tailgate parties.
It now faces General Assembly scrutiny.

A Pennsylvania woman was seriously hurt in a single car accident in Pulaski
County.
Police say Theresa Vine's pickup went off the road along Interstate I-81 and
overturned at least four times.
She wasn't wearing a seatbelt and was thrown out of the vehicle.
She's hospitalized in Charlottesville with a broken spine.

The Virginia Cavaliers almost pulled off the upset this afternoon in
Charlottesville.
But Duke pulled away in the final four minutes of the game and beat the
Cavaliers 72 to 65.

Jeff Jones on the sideline as his Cavaliers take it to the Blue Devils.
With 6 minutes left in the first half Curtis Staples hits this three pointer
to tie the game at 23.
The Cavaliers took a three point lead but Trajon Langdon hits two of his 15
points and Duke led by two at the half.
Duke led by 6 to open the second half but when center Chase Matheny hit this
jumper at the foul line the game was tied 37 to 37.
The Blue Devils come right back Chris Carawell takes the ball to the hoop
and scores to make it 58 to 54 with 4 minutes left in the game.
The next trip down the floor Virginia would cut it to 2 points when Willie
Dersh hit the jumper in the paint.
But Langdon scored on a drive and SUPER=33-Duke/72/Virginia/65/;hit this
three pointer and the Blue Devils hold on for the 72 to 65 win.

Virginia Tech continues to struggle in the Atlanta 10.
This afternoon at the Cassell Massachusetts beat the Hokies by 9 points 68
to 59.

It was snowing outside at the Cassell as the Hokies tried to put the
Minutemen in the deep freeze.
Tech gets it going deep under the boards to Russ Wheeler who hits the fade
away jumper in the first half.
But the Minutemen would bang it into the paint as Johathan DePina uses his
body to get free and score the basket.
Coach Bobby Hussey would go to his bench Eddie Lucas comes in and drives
across the middle, pulls up and hits the tough jumper.
The Minutemen would work it around the court and find Charlton Clark who
hits from the top of the key to extend the lead to 10.
Then Lucas slices through the lane SUPER=33-Massachusetts/68/Virginia
Tech/59/;and kicks it out to Rolan Roberts for the short jumper but
Massachusetts wins it 68 to 59.
