A Southeast Roanoke man is dead after an early morning fight.
Police say John Glen Jones died during an altercation with another man.
It happened in this house on Fifth Street.
Two men and two women were drinking when Jones allegedly pulled a knife on
the second man, and then hit him in the face.
The man wrestled Jones to the floor, and held him around the neck
Jones then stopped breathing.
Authorities have not officially determined the cause of death--
Autopsy reports are expected tomorrow morning.

Sheriff's deputies seized 233-pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop

The Lynchburg pediatrician charged with possession of child pornography
A nurse at "F-Read Hopkins Pediatrics" says 58 year old Doctor John G-Powell
has left his job. Powell was arrested at his office yesterday.
Police are not releasing any details of the case--the misdemeanor charge
lodged against Powell carries a maximum penalty of a 500 dollar fine.
Powell has worked in the Lynchburg community for more than 20 years. In 19-84
he received a "Physician of the Year" state award for his work with disabled

FBI agents caught up with the suspects in St. Louis.
18 year old Amanda Tull and her 30 year old boyfriend Buddy Hall- were seen
on hospital security tape. That helped police find them.
Roanoke City police are looking for a masked man who robbed a drug store last
Police got the call around seven-30,
when witnesses saw two men putting on black ski masks outside of the Revco
store in Southeast Roanoke.
The men, who were armed with guns, stole drugs from the store's pharmacy.
Police chased two robbers across Bullitt Avenue.
One was arrested, the other got away.
State lawmakers voted last year to ban assisted suicide in Virginia.
They wrote into the bill a clause that forces them to vote again this year.
Now one of two families in Virginia who've sought the help of Dr. Jack
Kevorkian is speaking out.

The Carilion Community Health Fund is donating 3-million dollars to counties
throughout Southwest Virginia.
The money will go to projects ranging from immunization drives to more
comprehensive, hands-on health care clinics.
The grant will help underserved areas reduce health risks.

Researchers may have found the cause of baldness.
They say a gene is responsible for hair loss and their finding may lead to
new ways to treat the condition.
The journal Science says the new gene-- called Hairless-- could regulate the
human hair cycle.
Doctors say a gene treatment for hair loss and baldness could be available
within the next five years.
Parents can now use something more than a spoonfull of sugar to make the
medicine go down.
A new product called Flavor-X is now available that can transform bad
tasting antibiotics to any of 40 different flavors.
Most parents know how difficult it can be to get children to swallow those
nasty tasting drugs.
