Testimony resumes this morning in the Javier Cruz cocaine conspiracy trial.
Yesterday the jury heard a taped conversation between Cruz's wife and a local realtor accused of laundering drug money.

Cruz bought a 100-acre farm in Floyd County in 1989- -to get away from fellow Columbian drug peddlers in New York who'd threatened to kill him.
Realtor Earl Frith had listed the property and made the sale.
The two men hit it off. Before long Cruz was buying livestock from Frith.

Frith is talking to Pamela Cruz, the drug dealer's wife- -unaware that she's wearing a wire.
She later showed up at his office with 40-thousand dollars in cash, seeking help in getting around the requirement to report large cash transactions. Pam Cruz had told Frith her husband got busted in Miami- -which was true- -but she didn't say the two of them had agreed to work for the D-E-A.
Cruz transported hundreds of kilograms of cocaine from Columbia to New York- -by way of a stash house at the foot of Bent Mountain.
Shannon Wilson lived in the house and testified she made up to three thousand dollars a trip for transporting coke.

Yesterday, the Texas parole board refused to recommend clemency.
It's now up to the U-S supreme court to grant a stay.
In 19-83 Tucker killed two people with a pickax.
She now says she is a born-again Christian.
If her sentence is carried out tonight she will be the first women to be executed in the U-S in 14 years and the first in Texas since the civil war.

For months, town officials have been studying an unusual plan from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers that might end scenes like this.
The Corps wants to move businesses from the eastern bank of the Levisa (luh-VYE'-suh) Fork River to more protected ground on the other side.
Grundy's existing business district would then be leveled.
Town officials are expected to send their comments on the plan back to the Corps sometime this week.

The municipal auditor says the Roanoke City School budget is sound.
But a school board member who raised questions about the spending plan says he still has concerns.

Investigators are looking for the cause of a deadly explosion that ripped through a factory last night in Pennsylvania.

One person was killed and 18 were injured.
The blast collapsed part of the York International plant during a shift change when 140 workers were inside.
The plant makes air conditioning and heating equipment.
Some people complained of burning eyes after the explosion, but officials say no hazardous materials were released.

In the end one man was dead and his wife was in serious condition and had to rushed to the hospital.

Rodney and Patricia Feazell lived at 1884 Old Forge Road in the Callaway community.
Sheriff's deputies say that's where the 47- year- old man shot his wife in the shoulders, arm and head with a small-caliber handgun.
Deputies say Feazell then returned that gun to a safe, pulled out a hunting pistol and killed himself.
The couple's 15- year- old daughter was in the house and called 9-1-1.

The wife of Columbian drug trafficker Javier Cruz testified before a federal jury yesterday.

Once Cruz was arrested in Miami in 19-91.

On the tape Frith is heard talking about how he could avoid currency transaction reporting requirements.
He's on trial for money laundering.
