Authorities say a Roanoke man took his own life during a confrontation with police.
The Botetourt County Sheriff's Department says 20- year- old Kevin Leigh Ponting was allowed into the house of an acquaintance early yesterday morning.
Other residents weren't aware he was there and called police to report a burglary in progress.
Sheriff Reed Kelly says when an officer arrived and tried to search the suspect, Ponting produced a handgun and shot
