In Rockbridge County, railroad workers today will begin replacing 250 feet of track in the wake of a train derailment.

Just before dawn yesterday three locomotives from a Norfolk Southern train plunged into the Maury River when the train reached an 80 foot section of track that had been washed away by heavy rain.
The engineer and conductor managed to climb out a window, jumped into the river and swam to safety.

A teenage girl may have fallen victim to a Montgomery County teacher. 34- year- old Michael Blevins is a math teacher and wrestling coach at Shawsville High School --
He faces 15 counts of fornication and 30 counts of crimes against nature, including sodomy.
Authorities say the crimes occurred in Smyth County last summer.
State police say Blevins' 16- year- old victim was NOT one of his students.
Blevins was arrested Tuesday at Shawsville High School -- the personnel office says Blevins is suspended with pay to protect the students.
State police say they plan to press similar charges against Blevins in other jurisdictions.
Another Montgomery County educator -- John Breedlove -- goes to trial in April for allegedly raping and sodomizing four girls.

They plan a "Pageant which will look like war with albania, and they want Hoffman to produce it. So he does, complete with a theme song, slogans, commercial tie in and fake war footage. They even find a "war hero" (Woody Harrelson). The strategy sessions and brainstorming by Hoffman and his cronies create the best moments in the film; which sags a bit towards the end. Miguel Pena of Cascade Virginia and Fernando Medina of Mexico are in jail --each being held on 25-thousand dollars bail.
Officers seized the drugs Wednesday.
They estimate the street value of the pot at 90-thousand dollars.

Montgomery County school employee is facing charges of having sex with a child.
34- year- old Michael Blevins was arrested Tuesday at Shawsville High School, charged with 15 counts of fornication and 30 other counts including sodomy.
State police say the victim is 16- years- old, but she is NOT one of Blevins' students.
The crimes allegedly occurred last summer in Smyth County, where Blevins taught high school in the 19-80's.

Now two Lynchburg men could face life in prison for the crime.

Both 21- year- old Rodney Keith Holland and 19- year- old Derek Dewayne Smith were found guilty on nine charges yesterday in connection with the crime at Foster Fuels last August.
Police say both men had guns when they entered the store, but it was Smith who shot clerk Matthew Longerbeam in the head.
Longerbeam survived but still has a bullet fragment in his brain.
Sentencing for the two men is set for April.

It's full again.
Carvin's Cove is Roanoke's primary water supply.
Water started spilling over the dam on Sunday afternoon. Almost a foot of water is now pouring over the spillway.
City officials say the cove hasn't been full since June 25th of last year.

That's where his wife has found a new job.
Crawford has been running Floyd County for two years.
He's spent more than 25 years in local government. He says he'll probably look for a job this time in business or industry.
