Some V-M-I upper classman called it an initiation ritual, but others say it
was a case of hazing.
Three seniors were suspended for beating six freshmen with a coat hanger
and belt last fall.
Now the family of one of the victims wants the incident treated as a
criminal matter.
Officials at the school are considering whether they should have contacted
police and reported the cases as hazings.
