One man is dead following a high speed police chase through two states that ended in Danville last night.

Police in Casswell County North Carolina chased the car driven by Gary Arthur James of Danville into Virginia after he failed to stop for a license checkpoint.
James apparently lost control of the car on Holland Road in Danville- hit a tree and the car flipped.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say they called off the chase before the accident happened.

Pennington was convicted in April of 1995 of murdering Bonnie Sue Mullins and was sentenced to 42 years in jail.
But, defense lawyers later found evidence they said proved Pennington's innocence and won an appeal of the verdict.

Now they've persuaded 15 lawmakers from both parties to sponsor a resolution that would study how to better protect autopsy records from unauthorized public disclosure.
