More than two hundred people are dead after a China Airlines jet crashed
into a Taiwan neighborhood.
Reports out of Taiwan indicate there are no survivors among the planes 196
passengers and crew.
And police say at least seven people were killed on the GROUND as the jet
smashed through 12 homes.
Officials say the Airbus-300 encountered thick fog while attempting to land
at (Tie-pay's)Taipei's International airport.
One witness described the scene on the ground as a "scene from hell".
U-N Secretary General Kofi (Anne-in) Annan is not having success negotiating
with the U-N Security Council.
Annan wants ambassadors from the U-S, France, Britain, Russia and China to
endorse one last effort to bring a peaceful solution to the Iraqi Conflict.

Jury selection will NOT begin tomorrow in Grayson County for one of two
suspects charged with murdering a local black man.
Today the judge overseeing Emmett Cressell's case set aside a new date
because his attorneys say they weren't given enough time to prepare.
Cressell's lawyers were NOT given access to work performed by the state
crime lab until last week.
The report found NO physical evidence to link Cressell to the murder of
Garnett "G-P" Johnson and further tests are NOW underway.
The former Marine was doused with gasoline, burned alive and later
decapitated after a night of drinking last summer.
Cressell's attorneys today criticized the prosecution for allowing the state
crime lab to turn over its results so close to the original trial date.

Commonwealth's attorney J-D Bolt told the court he turned over all the
crucial paperwork from the crime lab as soon as it was made available.
Cressell's new trial date is set for the week of March 23rd.
The physical evidence did link Cressell's co-defendant, Louis Ceparano, to

The selection of Roanoke's new police chief hasn't silenced criticism of
Joe Gaskins was named to the position on Friday, following a search that

A battle is brewing in Lynchburg over whether residents can use their
private homes to care for elderly patients.
Dora Cunningham has been caring for elderly women in her Edley Street home
for about four years.
But after a neighbor complained about traffic problems, Cunningham was
unable to get a conditional use permit. Now, a circuit court judge has given
her 90 days to find new homes for the two women that currently live there.

In two weeks we'll know if the Windy City will be a mere non-stop flight away
from the Star City.
That's what American Eagle said today.
The airline hopes to fly jets between Roanoke and Chicago.
But Chicago's O'Hare is the world's busiest airport.
So busy that the federal government assigns specific take-off and landing
slots to airlines that fly there.
American is urging travelers who would like the service to write letters to
U-S Secretary of Transportation Rodney Slater.
If the government gives American Eagle the go-ahead, jets will begin their
daily routes to Chicago on September 15th.
Much- needed renovations to Bedford County's old courthouse should begin
The county already is being sued by two different people because the 70-
year- old building is not handicapped accessible.
Bedford is spending 11- million dollars to add on to the existing courthouse
and renovate the nearby Burks- Scott building.
