The 71-million dollar plan would close nine schools, build four new ones, and renovate eleven others.

And the teen health center is completely free, which not only removes the cost burden on the student, but also reduces the number of pricy trips to the emergency room.
The average cost incurred for treating teens at the health centers is 52 dollars compared to 139 dollars per visit in the E-R.
Other positive benefits: the centers are at school, where teens spend most of their day. Students don't have to miss class to go to a doctor-- that reduces absenteeism, and the center addresses a wide range of health issues, from administering aspirin to treating mental illness.

But the measure approved 31-to-nine yesterday gives less of a cut than Governor Gilmore asked for.

Police also seized thousands of dollars worth of property, including this auto repair shop in Big Island and more than a dozen cars.

Authorities say the country entertainer died last night of complications from a series of strokes suffered earlier this year.
Grandpa, who was born Louis Marshall Jones, appeared on Hee Haw from 19-68 to 19-93.
After that he performed on the Grand Ole Opry show.
Jones was 84.
