This was Williams first appearance since his suicide attempt last month just hours after a grand jury indictment.

The government is testing a substance found on two men in Las Vegas to determine whether it's military grade anthrax or-- an anthrax vaccine.
The men are charged with possessing the deadly, germ-warfare agent.
One of the men had been put on probation last year for obtaining bubonic- plague bacteria through the mail.

A new plan calls for big changes in Henry County's schools.
The 71-million dollar plan would close nine schools, build four new ones, and renovate eleven others.

Last night, the Henry County school board outlined the plan for concerned parents.
The meeting at Laurel Park High School is one in a series of meetings to gather public opinion on the school restructuring plan.

That's the reason Roanoke police say a woman who has been convicted of prostitution three times since 19-94 was trying to get her 14- year- old daughter to perform sex for money.
The 33- year- old woman wasn't identified to protect the identity of the teen-ager.

Mill Mountain Theater has 2 excellent actors in the roles of antagonists Matthew Harrison Brady and Henry Drummond. Wayne Ballentyne is the highly religious Brady, a revered orator and statesman. Drummond is an admitted agnostic, a feared defense attorney seen by many as the devil himself. Drummond and his client Bertram Cates, played by John Holley, a young teacher who had the temerity to teach Darwin's Origin of the Species in his classroom take on not only brady, but the entire town. The courtroom scene is powerful and compelling. "Inherit the Wind" is directed by Jere Lee Hodgin and continues through March 8 at the Mill Mountain Theater.))

The U.S. delegation to the Olympic village confirms that some players damaged two apartments with fire extinguishers and broke some chairs, following their loss to the Czech Republic. Chris Witty has won another medal for the U.S. in speed skating. She won the silver in the thousand-meter race, barely losing the gold to Dutch skater Marianne Timmer. Earlier this week, Witty won the bronze in the 15-hundred meter race. She is the only American athlete with two medals

And the teen health center is completely free, which not only removes the cost burden on the student, but also reduces the number of pricy trips to the emergency room.
The average cost incurred for treating teens at the health centers is 52 dollars compared to 139 dollars per visit in the E-R.
Other positive benefits: the centers are at school, where teens spend most of their day. Students don't have to miss class to go to a doctor-- that reduces absenteeism, and the center addresses a wide range of health issues, from administering aspirin to treating mental illness.

Authorities say the country entertainer died last night of complications from a series of strokes suffered earlier this year.
Grandpa, who was born Louis Marshall Jones, appeared on Hee Haw from 19-68 to 19-93.
After that he performed on the Grand Ole Opry show.
Jones was 84.
