The historical items on hand are actually in the minority--
The old town hall is mainly filled with commercial items-- each marked in a special way-- in honor of the town's 200-th anniversary.
Organizers have actually been planning for the BIG event-- for two and a half years.

One of the most memorable events-- so far-- took place last month when town council members dressed as their founding fathers did back in 1798-- when the town by an Act of the General Assembly.
Virginia Tech helped with the costumes and has been actively involved in planning the year's events.
After all- Blacksburg wouldn't be what it is today-- WITHOUT the university.

Rick and Ramona Reeves have a large extended family.
In addition to their own two daughters, they also claim a set of twins, three girls born on foreign shores, not to mention the seven other young women making up the Liberty University basketball team.
It's a family affair.

And next year her sister Krystal will donn the uniform as well to play for head coach, Rick Reeves, who they also call dad.
((KIMMIE REEVES/LIBERTY FRESHMAN: IN HIGH SCHOOL OTHER SCHOOLS WOULD CONTACT ME AND I WOULD JUST SORT OF IGNORE THEM CAUSE I WANTED TO PLAY FOR MY DAD.))
((KRYSTAL REEVES/LIBERTY RECRUIT: I LOVE MY FAMILY. I DON'T WANT TO GET AWAY FROM THEM, EVERY NOW AND THEN I COULD STAND TO GET AWAY FROM MY SISTER, BUT WE GET ALONG. I LIKE THAT MY PARENTS CAN WATCH ME PLAY.))
Rick Reeves says he thinks of his team members as daughters and these girls have always been role models for his two "real" daughters.
But still there is a difference, so when Kimmie joined the squad he sought the advice of other coaches on how to handle the situation.
((RICK REEVES/LIBERTY HEAD COACH: I SPENT SOME TIME TALKING WITH RENNIE PORTLAND OF PENN STATE, HER DAUGHTER PLAYS FOR HER AND JOE CHAMPION OF AUBURN, HIS DAUGHTER PLAYS FOR HIM. what kind of advice did they give you? MAKE SURE YOU'RE NOT TOO HARD ON THEM. SOMETIMES YOU BEND OVER BACKWARDS NOT TO SHOW FAVORITISM YOU ACT TOO HARD ON THEM AND I CATCH MYSELF DOING THAT TOO.))

She works in Liberty's Athletic Department and plans to continue traveling with the team next year.

(("The Borrowers" is a new movie based on a series of books by Mary Norton,
featuring loveable, resourceful, tiny, tiny people who live beneath the
floorbaords of homes. And, well, you know how you often can't find things
around the house? Those are the things the Borrowers borrow. They're not
theives, they're fine upstanding little people, especially when it comes to
immoral, unethical people, like the greedy lawyer played by John Goodman.
"Amazing! Tiny, little people!"
"Tada! 24 luxury apartments in the place of one house."
The lawyer is destroying the house, claiming there is no legal document to
save it, though the borrowers have the document. They borrowed it, and
they're out to save the house, the regular-sized people who live in it,
including their young son, and themselves and their home beneath the

Nagano is saying 'sayonara' to the Olympics.
The Olympic flame has been extinguished and the mayor of Nagano has passed the Olympic flag on to the mayor of Salt Lake City, Utah, the site of the 2002 games.
In the meantime it's more glory for the U-S women's hockey team.
The cereal that calls itself "the breakfast of champions" announced that the gold medal team will be on the next box.
Wheaties has been putting Olympic champions on its packages since the 1930's.
You may remember, the U-S women's team defeated world champion Canada to win the sport's first Olympic gold.
Of course you can watch the closing ceremonies here on your hometown station at eight o'clock.[Bye]
