Soon Virgiia's veterinary hospitals may have to tell customers whether
they provide overnight care for animals.
The so-called "Peanut bill," in honor of a dog who died eight years ago, won
approval by the Senate Agriculture Committee.
Peanut died after his owner left him in a Fairfax County animal hospital,
believing the dog would have around-the-clock care.
For years, legislators have rejected bills that would prohibit a veterinary
clinic from using the word "hospital" in its name if it doesn't provide
overnight care.
