Yesterday we reported a new method of vaccinating people using skin patches-- today California researchers are developing another new way to give children a vaccine: in food.
Scientists say they genetically-engineered potatoes to carry the cholera vaccine.
Then-- they cooked them-- and found that 50-percent of the vaccine was left...leading them to believe that if they were eaten-- there would be some protection... even if the potatoes were french-fried.
So far the potatoes-- which apparently don't taste any different-- have not yet been tested on people.
