Since its startup a year ago, Claude Gunn's Hill City Renaissance Center has certainly been going in the right direction.
Twelve tenants, most of them minority- owned businesses, now occupy portions of the old Lynchburg Foundry office building in the Lower Basin. There are other minority business incubators like this in the U.S.-- this is the only one to start up without any financial help from the government.

Sports fans may not care how Salem became the haven for division three college sports championships....they probably just enjoy the action.
One man was instrumental in bringing those sports competitions to the valley.
Dan Wooldridge has spent his lifetime either on a court or field.
