Sports fans may not care how Salem became the haven for division three college sports championships....they probably just enjoy the action.
One man was instrumental in bringing those sports competitions to the valley.
Dan Wooldridge has spent his lifetime either on a court or field.

It doesn't seen right just to title Dan Wooldridge as the retired commissioner of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.
Though he held that job for more than 20 years and was the conference's first commissioner.
Wooldridge has also worn the hat of the Big East Conference's head official.
Not to mention his community service with the Rotary Club.

Wooldridge has spent years in the midst of the sports action both as a player and referee.
His committment with the Big East conference ended when the last whistle was blown in January's Bowl games.
Now you'll find him on the sidelines of the ODAC basketball tournament.
He had BOTH knees replaced in January, but the surgery hasn't sidelined this official.

forty years he can't just hang up his cleats.2-Scores
