It was a self inflicted gunshot wound not a police bullet that apparently took the life of a suspected drunken driver in Botetourt County.
That's the finding of the medical examiner.

Early Sunday morning, a Botetourt County sheriff's deputy pulled Leonard Jenkins over for suspected D-U-I.
Sheriff's officials say the 28- year- old shot Deputy Earnest Spiva twice in the chest.
Backup deputy Greg Hepler heard Jenkins fire a third shot, then Hepler shot Jenkins in the head.
The medical examiner says Jenkins fired that third shot into his mouth and killed himself.
Deputy Spiva was wearing a bullet proof vest, so the shots only bruised him.
