A plane piloted by Lynchburg city council candidate Stewart Hobbs was forced to make an emergency landing this afternoon.

Hobbs and two passengers had just taken off from the Lynchburg airport when the engine failed in their A-36 Bonanza Beechcraft.
Hobbs decided he could "not" make it safely back to the airport and instead landed in a field about three miles away.
He suffered a small cut above his left eye, but his passengers were uninjured.
The plane's propeller, wings and landing gear were damaged in the landing.
State police are investigating.
