The man convicted of nearly killing a former Christiansburg prosecutor in the 1970's is now living in a half-way house.

Frank DeWease was recently released from prison after serving more than 20- years for planting a dynamite- filled can on the car belonging to the man who was then Commonweath's attorney, Pat Graybeal.
Graybeal had prosecuted DeWease for murder before the blast. He lost both hands in the explosion.

A Bedford County woman was killed and her grandson injured when their car collided with an ambulance this afternoon in Lynchburg.

The wreck occurred at the intersection of Old Forest Road and Lakeside Drive around 2:30.
A Campbell County rescue squad ambulance collided with a Plymouth Horizon being driven by 25- year- old Eric Smith.


Smith's grandmother-- 84- year- old Jean Korn of Forest-- was killed in the collision.
Smith is listed in stable condition.
The ambulance reportedly was "not" transporting a patient at the time.
Police are still investigating.
