Montgomery County's Sheriff's office has made an arrest in connection with a homicide this past weekend.

42- year- old Robert Lee Crook- Senior of Montgomery County, has been charged with the shooting death of Michael Durham.
Durham was shot in the chest and arm five times with a 38- caliber handgun.
Police say Crook made a confession when he was arrested, and then admitted why he shot Durham.

A Smyth County man has been indicted on two capital murder charges in the slaying of his fifth-grade teacher. Eighteen-year-old Joshua David Widener is tentatively scheduled for trial April 20th on charges of capital murder while committing robbery and capital murder while committing rape. He could get a death sentence if convicted on either charge.

Errol McBean was immediately arrested for malicious wounding and taken to jail.

McBean allegedly shot Omari Shindano Brown in the back more than once- -as Brown left his home at 1326 Orange Avenue.
At the time Brown told police he knew the man by sight but not by name.
It took a while for police to figure out McBean's real name. When they did, they realized he was wanted for allegedly beating a woman last year and for failure to appear in court.

A group of Japanese health-care professionals toured the site that will soon be Radford Community Hospital. The group was here as part of an international exchange program.
They're interested in state-of-the-art hospital equipment -- the kind of equipment that will fill this building once it's finished.
The hospital plans to see its first patients this fall.

After 27 years at J-M-U's helm Ronald Carrier is stepping down.

Convicted killer Ronald Watkins was put to death last night after spending nine and a half years on death row. Watkins killed William McCauley in Danville in 1988.
Watkins died by lethal injection, but not before making a final statement directed to the family of his victim.

A murder investigation in Montgomery County has yielded an arrest. 42- year- old Robert Lee Crook- Senior of Montgomery County, has been charged with the shooting death of Michael Durham.
Durham was shot in the chest and arm five times with a 38- caliber handgun.
