Prosecutors say her children were coming up the walk behind her when it happened.
This afternoon her boyfriend, 37 year old David Lee Mason was arraigned on malicious wounding charges.
Mason had nothing to say at the hearing.
According to prosecutors, he has a violent criminal history, which includes a manslaughter conviction from 1983.

Turns out a Botetourt County man who killed himself in a shootout with sheriff's deputies was drunk.

The medical examiner confirms 28-year-old Leonard Brent Jenkins was driving drunk on the morning of March first.
Deputy Earnest Spiva pulled him over -- the sheriff says Jenkins shot the deputy twice in the chest then fatally shot himself.
Backup deputy Greg Hepler also shot Jenkins once in the back of the head.
Jenkins died almost immediately -- Spiva was not seriously injured and both deputies are back at work.
State police are investigating the shootout.

A mother who was told she brought the wrong baby home from the hospital is now refusing to take the child the hospital says is hers.

The babies were accidentially switched at Memphis Regional Medical Center.
The hospital says Ladonna Harris was sent home with the wrong newborn.
Harris has since returned that baby to the other mother, but Harris is now refusing to take the remaining baby from the hospital.
She is also refusing to allow D-N-A testing on the child.
Hospital officials say Harris is convinced the child she took home in the first place is hers.

William Martin was attacked over the weekend by a rabid bobcat in his yard.
Officers killed the animal and tests show it was infected.
Martin will begin a series of rabies shots.
