Forty people were hurt this afternoon in a 65 vehicle pileup on Afton Mountain in Augusta County.

The wreck started in heavy fog, when one car ran into the back of another, starting a chain reaction that lasted almost 20 minutes.
East-bound I-64 was closed for four hours, as wreckers worked to clear the highway.
A state police video shows the condition of the cars and tractor trailers involved.
The victim's injuries ranged from cuts and scratches to a few broken bones.
State police say they're amazed no one was seriously hurt.

A Pittslyvania County man was killed late last night after being hit by a pick-up truck.
State police say the driver of the truck apparently lost control of the vehicle, along Route 29 and hit 31-year old Richard Kimball Witcher, of Pittsville.
Witcher died at the scene.
Authorities are still investigating the accident.

An early morning trailer fire claims the life of a two-year old Bedford County girl.

Firefighters in Bedford County were called out just before eight, and arrived to find this home near Big Island engulfed in flames.
Authorities say John Lee left his two children in the trailer with his brother while he went to work.
Lee's brother and five- year- old son escaped the trailer when it caught fire, but his two- year- old daughter was trapped inside.

Both planes broke up in midair and fell about 15-hundred feet.

Hale Irwin captured his third straight PGA Seniors Championship yesterday in a 7 stroke victory over Larry Nelson.

Irwin began the final round with a birdie and went on to birdie holes 6 and 11 for a 275 total. His final round; a 2 under 70. He was 13 under for the tourney.
Nelson finshed with a 72 at the PGA National Golf Club.

This weekend; Kelly Sullivan became the first female Keydet to place in a southern conference athletic event.

Sullivan placed third in the confernece track meet hammer throw. VMi's men's track team won it's second straight conferewnce crown, The women have fewer participants and that gives coaches like Mike Bozeman, who was named conference coach of the year, an advantage with his female athletes.

the Express plays the deciding game five of the Kelly Cup second round playoffs against Hampton Roads tomorrow night at the Round House and the team is asking for the fans best support.

Some believe it's the shroud that covered Jesus Christ after his death--others believe it's a piece of cloth from the middle ages.

But, today 800 thousand people stood in line to view the Shroud of Turin in Italy.
The garment bears an impression of a bearded man with wounds to his feet and hands.
It's being preserved in a two-ton showcase with an atmosphere that's controlled by a computer.
About three-million people have plans so far to visit the Turin Cathedral in Italy to view the garment by June 14th.(------------)
