Last night an eighth grader killed a teacher and wounded two students at a school dance.

A traffic accident in Pittsylvania County killed a driver who smashed his car into a truck.

The accident happened around two p-m-- about seven miles outside of Danville along Route 58.
Crews were repairing the road when the driver ran into the back of a truck pouring asphalt.
Jack Bruce Baysinger of Greensboro, North Carolina died at the scene.
Police are still investigating the accident.

Police found the body today of a Hillsville man who apparently died following a traffic accident almost a month ago.
33-year old Ronnie Dale McMillian was reported missing April 5th.
He was traveling along Route 608 when his car ran off the road and flipped over an enbankment.
Today authorities used a helicopter to search for his body.
They say alcohol was a factor in the accident.

Five local college students are facing criminal charges after a party prank went too far.
It began when a Washington and Lee fraternity member passed out at a party, and two women from Sweet Briar College shaved his pubic area.
Afterwards, 3 W&L fraternity members drove the women 30 miles away and attempted to do the same thing to them.
Chad Austin Castro, Jonathan Barker and Ryan Walker are charged with abduction.
The women, Lisa Karen Williams and Jessica Saveall are charged with sexual battery.

Space Shuttle Columbia will be headed home early if astronauts can't fix a problem with the shuttle's air recycling system.

The shuttle's primary carbon dioxide removal system shut down yesterday.
There's no immediate danger, because Columbia has a backup system on board.
But it will only last for five days.
If astronauts can't fix the main system, they'll have to come home three days early, and that could affect the outcome of their in-flight experiments.

The coast guard has finally found 13 runaway barges missing along the Mississipi River near St. Louis.

A ten mile stretch of the river was shut down when 137 barges broke free last night.
It started when about two dozen barges got loose and sailed down the river, starting a domino effect.
25 tow boats were called out to round up the runaways in a kind of "river rodeo".
At least one barge loaded with grain sank.
Officials are not sure what caused the accident.

Still in the first half the Wizards score again. Simon Cotton heads in the corner kick and Delaware was on top 2 to nothing.

The Record in the Women's 100 meter hurdles was 2 years old but it fell yesterday in the 33rd Cosmopolitan Invitational.

Salem's Ashley Bush cruised to a new record with a winning time of 15-23, beating the old record of 15.58. Cave Spring sophomore Beth Harms took second.
Despite an injury, Michael Motley's time of 15:24 gave him the edge in the men's 110 meter hurdles. Placing just behind Motley were Ivan Brewer and Vincent Brown.
Football standout, James Hickenbotham walked away with several first place finishes. His time of 11.06 in the 100 meter dash bested Scott Bird and Chad Giles in yesterday's race.
Hickenbotham set the meet record for the 100 meter dash last year with a 11.03 time.
