Fire heavily damaged a home in Montgomery County tonight.

Crews from Blacksburg and Christiansburg worked to bring the blaze under control.
It broke out around nine tonight at this house in the Preston Forest community, near Blacksburg.
The roof and second floor were destroyed.
Jim Wang and his family were at home at the time and believe it started in the flue.

An 11-year old boy and his 14-year old sister are being held in a juvenile detention home: suspects in a string of arsons last night in Appomattox.

The victim of a stabbing last week in Danville has died.
76-year old Everett Till of Florida died Saturday-- from two stab wounds.

Danville police arrested his son-- 43-year old Michael Till and charged him with malicious wounding.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's department is like most law enforcment agencies where resources are limited.

The department has logged nearly one thousand, since August and most are NOT actual emergencies.
The majority are children playing on the phone or adults who've dialed the wrong number and simply hang up.
Whatever the case-- the dispatcher is required to call the person back to confirm everything is OK.
If the caller doesn't answer or the line is busy-- a sheriff's deputy is immediately dispatched.

Fighting Blues Skipper Mark Mace had his team ready for the Pioneer district battle.
And Craig would take a big hit in the bottom of the third as John Snyder scores from third on a wild pitch to make 3-to-1 Blues.
Then on the next play, Jeremiah Brockenborough brings in Chad Coffey on a double and the Fighting Blues were up 4-to-1 at this point in the game.
The Blue would later go up 6-to-one on Norris Dudley's one bagger that plates Daniel Clark.
